Could mama Ru become the new queen of daytime?
Well, if things go as planned the Emmy-winning host will begin production on a new daytime talk-show pilot with the team behind Ellen’s hit daytime show.
Long before Ru created RuPaul’s Drag Race–which is currently nominated for 12 Emmys this year–he hosted WKTU’s and, later, WNEW’s radio morning show program in New York City alongside longtime friend Michelle Visage, who will also have a role on the new TV program.
Expect a show full of gags, games, and plenty of celebrity guests, filmed in front of a live audience.
And if that wasn’t enough, RuPaul has two scripted series on the way: AJ and the Queen, a Netflix series he’s starring, writing and producing alongside Michael Patrick King, who also worked on Sex and the City; and a Hulu series, executively produced by J.J. Abrams and written by Orange is the New Black‘s Gary Lennon, based on his life due and appropriately titled, Queen.
